What took so long ??? Getting the car ???

I told the Princess youll be the one who sets the forum search engine alight, locating every time I denounced Landcruisers

BUT of course, truly a good stir , very few left on here now.....:chuncky::chuncky::chuncky:

What's a military gxl? Anything special or just an additional charge from Toyota, like A/C....:boink:

Forget the fancy names, it's a Troopy, Toyota's answer to an APC where you all bounce around inside a tin can together........and wives learn to swear.:censored::censored:

A Mexican with a LC is one extra special Mexican

BUT still a Taco eater who wants to eat Pineapple.........:bolt:

Oh, don't forget to change the fuel filter before any trips, they won't do them in a service unless the light comes on, which may be in the middle of no where.:car:

I blame you for all this. I was very happy with my Navara until your relentless Cruiser infatuation wore me down .... now look whats happened. Like my mum used to say, "Its all fun and games, until someone buys a Cruiser"

Didn't I say that earlier, :blah: @Bluey brought out the inner Cruiser man, hey Bluey he won't be able to carry that board now that he has a big canoe on the roof, better be quick as I can hear he's stocking up with sunscreen for the big move, the Navara couldn't tow everything north in one hit so he had to upgrade......:closed_2:

I'd still go a RAM 1500, base model, better diff than the yuppie one, chuck the tub away and fit a tray , I like the Blue one....should be some nice 2nd hand ones soon, then I don't have to worry about robbing dealers................... Plus look a lot cooler than a mine vehicle.....:biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::behindsofa:

Have fun oh Crusty one, we are all a bit jealous, possibly, I'm retired so always have a smile..................:cheer2:

Only around 3 years for me, so you can imagine the enthusiasm behind the smile Ill have then; retired and a relatively young Troopy.

Im planting lemon trees now, because Ill have to suck on a lemon every morning just to wipe the smile off my face

Be good practice to start now so the smiley muscles are used to it in 3 yrs time as they will then get a caning, well after the pain of moving............................. probably take that long to get all the bits sorted on the APC so its ready for the beach run up here........ .................:becky:

3 years and the Modest Formidable Vehicle otherwise known as Colorado will be near 300,000km and thats the retirement age :crutch:for Drover Trucks, should be some low mileage full of bling RAMs around by then................I will have a bigger smile then .......................:cool-new::cool-19:

Wow @Crusty181 I hope you ran it by @Bluey before you sold it? I think he was more in love with the Nav than you were lol! Congrats on the new beast and look forward to seeing what you do to it.
Thanks @17triton. You've heard of people with voices in their heads, my voice was @Bluey's. I think he was just pumping up my tyres with wild tales of Navara envy. @Bluey's a Landcruiser man thru and thru. He has history with Cruisers, and not one Navara. As mighty as the Navara is (was, its dead to me now) it would not have cured his passion for a Cruiser. He's now got his Cruiser, and he's done well, its a capable and great looking unit, with plenty of scope to tinker.

My Troopy will be a long and painful wait, likely 3 months, and with the Nav gone I have to swap about cars etc with friends and family. I have the truck, and I'm considering short term re-registering my Yam FJ1100 for a frightening and cautious short interlude with a mid life crisis kinda deal. Its been a very long time since Ive riden on the road.

Considering the Troopy is actually being built from scratch specifically for me is kinda cool though.

The Troopy will be dealer delivered with a full compliment of ARB and Lovells offerings. There is also some more stuff waiting for it at the factory .... (and there's already another small addition to the Crusty's Inventory of Retirement Preparations lurking about)

I need to design and building my own fridge slide because there's nothing of the market suitable. That will integrate with a storage system for rear based on a similar fitout style to the Drifta Camping stuff.

Busy time and a lot of work ahead, but the Troopy is a long term keeper ..... at least that's the plan at the moment

I took up motorcycling at about age 40 - L plates then P plates - had a Kawasaki z250 - then went straight to an FJ1100. All I am going to say is it was an interesting transition...interesting being the operative word or perhaps frightening! Anyway I survived...

Possibly not the ideal step up, or in your case leap, in cubes. I started at 650, and stepped up 3 times to the FJ. Couple of Z9s along the way

I then transitioned to a new Triumph Trophy 900 - a brilliant motorcycle. I was a member of a local classic motorcycle club (because, in theory, I was restoring a Royal Enfield) and would take the Triumph on rallies. My then 12 year old son (he turns 38 in a couple of weeks) and I went on one such rally near Goulburn. We came up behind some classic bikes and overtook them. Later that day he asked how fast we we were going when we did that. I said about 100km/hr. No Dad that’s wrong - he said. Because after you backed off I looked over your shoulder and we were doing 170km/hr ...so we return home (safely) and the first thing he said to his mum was -“guess what mum”...you can fill in the rest...
I won’t repeat what Anne initially said to me, but she finished with - “well I am glad you are both home....”
I no longer ride a motorcycle....

Followed a new Navara ute towing a 5th wheeler up the hill to Glen Innes a couple of weeks ago.35-40kph for over half an hour or more wouldnt pull over, obviously saw me in the mirrors , (I was towing the Journey Offroad)even the usually quiet boss was getting agitated.!! After a gut full of diesel fumes/smoke ,used 610nm of torque the GC (DP chip)has and bolted past.My mate has a four year old Pathfinder towing a Swan camper. Ok on the flat, diabolical up hills .
