@Marv_mart and @Drover yes I can tow with my falcon 2300 and the is at 2350
I kept the van light as possible, no water in tanks and only took what we needed for the time away as it was our first trip away. Just my son and I as men can travel light.
The car drove great 95% all highway and in town was fine, straight to van park.
I have the car modded giving me plenty of power and torque. 440hp with 731nm and a upgrade in brakes all round.
Anyway car is now up FOR SALE as I have just picked up new rig, Ford Ranger FX4 and love it.
Anyway if you know anyone that would like a Ford Falcon FG MKII G6E Turbo that has everything send them my way, $23,000ono

Cars (Falcons or whatever) might have the power but I would think don’t have the weight compared with what is being towed to ensure safety. If a large (heavy) Trailer is being towed by a light tug and problems arise it seems imho that things can very quickly go awry without any hope of the tug being able to control the situation. All is fine when things are normal but .........
I have noticed a sedan get into serious difficulties when problems arise eg a punctured tyre overpowering a much lighter car towing a large van when traveling on more than 1 occasion.
Glad you have now upgraded to a bigger (heavier) tug.
This is just my opinion and will freely accept being proven wrong.

Many, many moons ago it was common to see the HQ or XB hauling the 20ft Millard loaded to gunwhales with gear and kids......Now I wonder what the weights were.

Nice set up, now for the grand mods, look forward to your future stories @caax ...though I still reckon tray backs beat tubs hands down.

Even though my old falcon was capable of towing a 17 they're not really designed too. Fuel was good towing averaging 16.2, remember it's a petrol Turbo 6.
Accidents happen to anyone regardless of what car you're driving. I have always been told drive to the conditions and your capability.
With the van on the back I drive slower and give myself plenty of room until when some MOFO uses that cap to squeeze in (FFS).
Without the van the car is great nice to drive and is a rocket.
Like @Crusty181 said I might be downgrading in power and torque and luxury but the upgrade to the Ranger was needed because of that piece of mind and worry free towing.
Now I can take everything with us and add water to the tanks.
Electronic brakes and window tint getting done next week and have ordered roof racks. Later ill start playing with second battery system to car and solar and another battery to van.

Nice rig! Have fun tuning to your needs.
Did similar to my BeasT 50. Now has everything I need (want) for the long trips we do.

Hi @Marv_mart , very good and sound advice. Would be very, very hard to be proven wrong on anything above.

SWMBO reminded me also about Tow Ball weight capacity.
Would a sedan have a sufficient rating to cope with the weight of a modern caravan?
I wander what the Braked Towing Capity and the max ball weight is for a sedan?
I know when we bought our first van, a Jayco Penguin, the dealer asked what we were towing it with?
We had a Mazda AWD Tribute at the time and it was only just within the Max ball weight capacity limit required.
Since upgraded to the Mazda BT50, basically the same towing ability as the Ford Ranger, same chassis and engine, just Mazda body and fit out.

We were asked the some question from Jayco Dealer, what car will you be towing the van with? I told them Ford Falcon with a braked towing rating of 2300. They said ok and nothing was mentioned again.

All is going well (touch wood) done a few trip in the van you know first SWR in Feb and Swansea in March. On Thursday off to Merry Beach Resort

Dont drive the Ranger much due to haven't sold the old car yet, too many tyre kickers and the amount people wanting to swap, NO swaps car is FOR SALE!!
I'll post update of the van park next week.

Umina never disappoints but holly crap it was cold and OMG just couldn't get the van warm.
So I though when I get back I'll look into a diesel heater and shocked in the price difference. I'll wait on tax return and get it done properly.
We're off to Lake Tabourie next week for 3 nights. As soon as I got back from Umina I booked straight away just need to keep getting away.

My son and I did see a fellow caravan on the highway with it's roof up. Not what you wont at 90/100kmph. I honk the horn got there attention and told them, they pulled over straight away. I'm sure my son took a photo, i'll ask him tomorrow if he still has it.

G'day team, hope everyone has been ok.
Yes I haven't been here for a long time having problem's with builder and a lengthy + costly legal battle over major issues with house. It's taken a toll on me pretty bad but getting through it slowly.
To help me I try to get away but find it hard because need to work heaps to pay the legal bills from lawyer.

Anyway we're off in 2 weeks for Country Champs at Cudgen/Kingscliff. I've taken time off work and make it a proper holiday.
Leaving Friday 25th first stop Iluka for 3 nights. Iluka is an old stumping ground for me making it my second home away from home. Can't bloody wait to see what changers have been made around town.
Next stop Monday 28th a quick day trip into Byron Bay because never been. Any tips or things to do whilst in Byron Bay? Light house is on our to do list.
From Byron we arrival into Cudgen which will be home for 7 nights. Staying at the new renovated Kingscliff North. Firetruck Yeah!!

This will be a great test for me to see how the van and car goes, never traveled that far and to see how we go on fuel.
I'll give a review of our travels when we get back and post up some pics.
Till next time take care
