Morning all,

Trying to start a weekend away. planning on taking to van to Fry's hut (flat) for basecamp, then head up to Craigs hut as a day trip.

Is it easy enough to get the van to Fry's hut being a full size van?

If not, what other options are available as a base camp so Craig's hut is within a days drive?

Thanks

There is a bit of a climb out of Sheepyard Flat and a few narrow sections in to Frys. I've had my 16 in there no issues at all.

It also depends on low branches for roof height too so that may have changed over the winter season.

You can camp in Sheepyard there is plenty of room and more sites to the left of Sheepyard.

Buttercup Rd has some spots too but best off entering from Carters td for those.

Enjoy @Macca_75

Yes, can get or could get a full size van into Frys we did it a few years ago with 20.62 and as @cruza driver said bit of a climb into it but not to bad as long as no rain as it could get slippery.
Sheepyard is good as well, heaps of different spots around there to camp that you can get a van into.

Are there any river crossings required to get to Craigs hut? We have someone coming who has a (petrol) Prado with no snorkel.

Thanks

Not from memory, just watch some of the washouts as they can be a little high sometimes. It is also a single track so you have traffic going both ways. Can get busy up there, but worth it, for the views. Also out from Sheepyard Flats area is Bluff hut which is worth the trip as well.

No river crossings at all if you go the main way

If you visit Pineapple Flat and follow King Basin trk there is 5 crossings but they should be nice and low atm anyway.

From my experience high country rivers high enough to require a snorkel would likely be pretty challenging .... ???
