There doesn't seem to be much difference between the two inasmuch as they seem to be the pick of all little generators as far as quietness goes.

I have been looking at the two as well and still haven't made my mind up which way to go. My in laws have a little Honda and are happy with it and I've used one with our local rescue squad and it seems reliable and quiet but I have also heard good things about the Yamaha.

I was also scouting through a thread here a while ago and saw a nifty mod to a little generator lid which had a hose barb hooked to the breather so it could suck direct out of a jerrycan which I thought was a genius mod!

I know is not a Honda or Yami but we have had the Kipor 2.6 for the last 7 years or so and I have never had a problem with the Chinessss unit.
Always starts and the aircon never misses a beat. The best part of all it doesn't chew a great deal of fuel too.
The most important part is that the unit is easy to carry around for 2.6 kva.

I am sure other members here would agree that have a Kipor.

Any of those 3, they all have good reports......I have a Honda 2kva, ran the AC on the 14 but haven't tried it on Big Mal, somehow I dont think it will, book says need 2.4, will see.

the only reason I bought the 2.4 is that the aircon would run but it would be running near the upper limit of the 2kw unit so we went with the bigger one

I spoke with Truma direct prior to buying and they suggested a minimum of a 2KVA Honda. We will only ever use this for air con. They also stated we should try not to run anything other than air con on it. Went with the Honda 2kva due to size, weight, decibels, and name brand. For some reason they said Honda over Yamaha also.

Going by the various reports on here if I was buying one mainly to run the AC I would go a 2.4 at least, a 2kw may or may not run the AC even the same model AC some will, some won't.............With my old set up I would run up my Honda 2kva for a few minutes then switch on the AC at a mid way setting and gradually increase if needed, the genny wasn't going flat chat but you knew when the AC cycled but you wouldn't run anything else off it while AC was using it, yet same model AC on another rig it wouldn't run it, genny would stall.........

Way to go, now it will sit around and do nothing for ages like mine but when it's needed it's there........................if I need the AC going in the van I usually pack up and head to the beach.
