Hi guys
Am at pambula beach at moment pondering which BBQ to purchase for our big trip round oz!
Walking around the c/park there seems to be mostly weber q"s
Saw a guy guy the other day with one called an "I grill" which looked really good compact and light weight
Has anyone used one and could anyone recommend what they think are good!
The webers look like they may be a pain a clean everytime for putting away each day, is that the case or is it not as awkward as it looks
I just don't want it to smell out the compartment it gets stored in
Would love your thoughts please guys
Pete

Can't speak about non-weber models, but imo the weber couldn't be any easier to clean. Simply close the hood and turn the haet up for 10 min after cooking. Everything will burn off. If you really want to go 'Sadie' on it, the hit it with a wire brush - job done.

We have the weber 200 high lid and love it! Gave it a clean (grille out) at the start and used it for 3 weeks solid, the only clean I did over this time was gave the grille a rub with the wire brush. I didn't pack away untill we came home but I put in back of tug. The weber is very well built, simple, easy to pull apart to clean, the food tastes awesome, can cook anything and parts are easy to obtain....i can see it lasting a very long time but maybe I'm just bias!

Cheers.

I clean our BabyQ with a high pressure sprayer.

After cleaning I light it and let it run on high for 10 min or so to dry it out.

On the road I just turn it up to high after cooking for 10 minutes if it is looking dirty.

Hi hit the road, how is the rain at Pambula...? we are at Eden and its been a soggy day, we head up to the big 4 pambula this coming saturday!
I am also a big fan of the Q we have the baby with the large hood and its great, i slip it between the two gas bottles in a large canvas bag i had made and strap it down, works a treat, how long at Pambula?

Thought the fat/oil residue may just gather all inside the base section
Appreciate the help
HTR, the duffle back which is a relatively new addition to the accessory range is brillant to ensure any splashes/spills etc don't make their way into your van during travel.
I also like to give the external a wipe over with one of those Selleys BBQ wipes before I pack it away for travel.

Weber Q for me also.
Like others have said, very easy to clean and the cooking result is great.
I would go with a high lid model though.

Leesy, you can buy a duffle bag for the baby q now. We got one at the weber shop the other day.

Don't forget if you decide to go weber that if you go to a weber specialist shop you can get the high dome versions that have the temp gauge built in

Another Q (baby) here only 3 of us but have cooked for 6 on it, yep very easy to clean, far easier than the Cobb Cooker we have and much more convenient,

If you want to make it even easier to clean line the base with foil, just put a hole through it for drip tray

Q120 with temp gauge for us. Faultless cooking. If I had my time again, I would get the Q220 with gauge. Just that extra room for the additional flat plate ($30.00)for onions. Cooks a nice 1.3kg roast in 2hrs. Pressure cleaner to clean.
Cheers Deano

I have a BabyQ Weber also. Thinking I might have to upgrade to the 200 model. We have the bayonet fitting on the drawbar and very easy to setup in the stand. We also have the big family Q (300 I think) at home. Love cooking on them. Both are the high lid ones with the temp gauges. Cook good pizzas too!

Q220 and a companion two burner wok grill....

Love the 220 wouldn't buy another bbq after owning one of these things cooks everything and can be used as an oven!!

Here is a sample from what the weber can do aside from the normal bbqing stuff :)! -

for my two cents worth, I would definitely recommend going to a Weber specialist and buy the Q220 you will get the higher lid and temp guage which is priceless.
Extras: the weber brush is ok but any old wire brush would do the trick, the roasting trivet is a must, as is the breakfast plate and a cover. hands down though the best thing I bought was the digital meat thermometer, select the type of meat and the way you want it cooked and the probe stays in the meat the whole time - roasts are the best you have ever had and no guessing if it is done or not.

Also, to confirm what others have said above, while camping we have also cooked lasagne and baked muffins in the Weber so it is all around fantastic!

Just another thought!
Will the 220 or baby q fit in the front compartment?
I know brad did a great mod but not sure what weber you had brad
Also your van is the 18 series I believe
Is the 17 series same size compartment?

G'day HTR,

We have just bought a Q220(high lid/thermometer) after looking at the baby q and deciding it was not enough for us.
Spoke to a Weber shop and they were right in saying to spend the extra $10RRP and get the high lid version.
Have had 3 meals out of it so far including 1 roast. Worked very well and cooked it great.
IMO, i don't think that i would buy the breakfast plate or the weber brush again as the plate i found to small and the brush
not that great to use. I would use just a normal wire brush if required. We also bought a Topnotch brand full solid hot plate for cooking
hamburgers and eggs etc and found that a better addition than the breakfast grill. That is just my 2 cents worth.
You should get the trivet if you are looking to cook roasts in it, works a treat.

Happy hunting.
Cheers.
