We have just got home from 2 wks at Yamba NSW with our new van with the new roof mounted wingard (snow flake style) arial, and I must say it was useless at best. Friends of ours also with a new van had the same problems, all connections tight and booster on.
People with the old small house type on a long pole had good reception,I still have mine from the old camper so I'll take that next year.
I am going to test it at home and see if it works here if not it will be a please explain question to Jayco HQ.

I used the the snow flake type in maclean (15 km west of yamba), no problems crystal clear. I used that app on the iphone someone else spoke about. I lived in yamba and tv reception was a bit dodgy, never in maclean but.

Lizard.

We had all the problems with the wineguard, then went to Dick Smith and bought a cheap $70 aerial. That worked for a bit, but still very dodge on windy days.
So we bit the bullet and went with a satellite dish with VAST decoder. Also asked for a digital satellite finder with the purchase. Cost a bit but have never looked back. Superb picture everytime.
We never use the wineguard now and takes no time to set up the dish.
Thanks Dean

We were at the mid north coast with the snow flake and got everthing except channel 9 but only did the one tune and didn't persist. Our neighbors had the old style wingard and couldn't get prime? In saying that we never watched the Telly!

Hey jdove we just got back from a week at Lake Arragan (just south of Yamba) in our 14.44-5 O/B and had great reception.
We had trouble at first but then realised we hadn't turned on the booster.

Heh guys.
We've got the snowflake too and haven't had any issues even with the booster off..
Been to lake Somerset, Coffs Harbour and Brunswick heads. Not a problem

We are only running a Kogan digital tv.. All fittings are good quality brass or is it copper, can't remember now, but did buy the better quality for the connecting leads.

Dunno if this helps

Hi,
We just use a portable antenna bought from Jaycar with an inbuilt amplifier. Cost was $44.95. We've had times where we've had tv reception when other campers with roof mounted antennas have not!
Hope this helps those looking for a cheap alternative!

Well no wind this morning and guess what we have reception on most channels seems like the windy conditions play a big part . Sounds a bit dodgy to me , what does the wind do to the signal ?

We also found that strong wind mucks up the signal. We even have this problem at home at times,we live very close to the beach so it must be a coastal thing as we also had problems up near Deano at Bagara beach when we first picked up our van in Bundy.

That nice spot Deano is camped at looks like 1770 to me and I would guess site numbers around 21-23 (I go every year also)

I think that is standard for any type of signal. I notice degradation also on the wireless at home, the mobile, And TV reception. Oddly enough, not as much with a radio.

We put a wingman on before crissy. At natemans bay it didnt really do anything as the digital signal was crap anyways.

That said i thought something might be wrong as i hooked up the coax cable from the outside of the van in to the parks conection and it was still crap. I pulled the socket off the inside wall where you plug in the tv and when some goose at Jayco wired it up they had maybe 1 or 2 strands of wire touching on the outer wire. Inner wire was ok. I fixed it up and it made a big difference.

Up at Bateau bay the windguard worked fine, and better than last year. So i thing the wingman attachment is worth the cost...

Currently at free camp near Braidwood on the Shoalhaven River about 10 km from town thought I'd give the tv a go could only get SBS and one other channel, and even then it breaking up from time to time, normally don't have to much trouble, just depends on location

Moving onto Batemans Bay today, always good reception where we stay there, they also have site connection

Hearing that the change over to full digital services in some areas is playing havoc with peoples reception. They have also mentioned that atmospheric conditions play havoc with digital signal which would include wind.
