Hi,

I generally just tow in "drive" if I'm on good flat going out in the bush, when I am in tighter/hilly areas I generally lock it into 4th just to stop the constant gear changing. I've never had any problems using this method.

Cheers

I tow in sports 4th most times, 5th when its nice road.... actually better on fuel. But the main reason I do it is to keep the Transmission Fluid Temp below 120C. When towing in drive it very easily and quickly rises above 100C, only way to monitor it is to put in a scan gauge!
120C??????????????????

I have a Scangauge and coming back to Darwin from Adelaide I was trying to keep mine below 107, and even then I've been researching an add on or upgraded transmission cooler.
