Knowing where to point your TV aerial or if there is a phone tower nearby are handy things to know when on the road, so here's two never leave home without links.

Find that TV station.............

Find a mobile tower including the freq operating from it .................. https://www.rfnsa.com.au

Edit: sites updated Feb 2022...... references to some sites later on are historic as the sites no longer exist such as Oztowers and the MySwitch phone App.

What I like about Oztowers is other than showing distance and bearing it shows the individual freq as well as 3G, 4G etc, just can't ID why a Blue Tick phone will work at some places and not at others, assume it has something to do with the 850mhz that Telstra use in those areas.

Just an Update: The oztowers site has been closed down for awhile now and the MySwitch app fell over as well BUT the good news is the MySwitch web site still works....... https://myswitch.digitalready.gov.au

Using ACMA data incorporated into Google Earth gives you listing of all communication towers in the country, but I'm not going to try to describe how you can get it..... had it for that long Ive forgotten.

Doing a rough plan for the next Wander and remembered I hadn't put this great site for your perusal.... So if staying online or in phone contact this ACMA site shows you where the phone towers are, easier in some way than loading onto Google earth and loads faster anyway.... Just put where you are or will be and it will load up, sroll out to see more, ckick onone of the dots to see if its a phone tower or someone else's tower..

The great thing with this site is if you have put in correct location a target grid will show your location, then you click on the tower nearest you thats for your phone provider, a box will appear giving the towers users and freq, if you click on the "Elevation Profile", it will show you the line of sight from you to tower, giving a good indication if a signal is possible.............. I think its magic....
