We traveled extensively with friends who have a 21ft New Age touring van.
After much consternation, they made the appropriate decision to ditched the van, leaving it storage and tenting when we tackled anything rough, or requiring clearance. The only "rough stuff" (and I use that term very loosely) their van seen was a handful of dirt roads, which to put that into perspective were the sort of roads most people would be happy drive their Ferrari on.
Their van is still like new .... ours not so much, but that's another story
On the first dirt road they took it on the ovens internal door glass shattered and strew glass all over the van. The outside glass is fixed in place and suffered no issues, but the internal glass simply slides in a groove on the inside frame of the door and there isnt any screws or tabs to hold the glass it in place. No surprise that it could move significantly and could shatter.
New Age told them their oven may inadvertently not had the "rubber spacers" fitted. Hardly a deal breaking issue, and New Age happily arrange the rubber spacer kit and replacement of the glass under warranty.
There wasn't any other damage, they had the glass replaced in Darwin and were supplied small rubber self adhesive tabs that space the glass in the corners from the tin frame. No further issues regarding the glass, with it tested a few more similarly low end dirt roads
Jayco seem to fit the Dometic ovens as the upmarket choice in the Silverlinnes, and Thetford as the standard fare. Other than new Silverlines, all the new vans I looked at had the Thetford oven. None of the new Jaycos I look through had rubber on the oven internal glass. In Jaycos defence, the ovens come in a box so that wouldnt be something they would look at.
If you have a Thetford oven, check the internal the glass for little rubber spacers. If your still within the warranty request the spacer be supplied, or contact Thetford for a kit ..... or avoid anything rougher than a display home car park.
