Id been getting bombarded on FB with advertising for a cheap non-permanant magnetic wifi reversing camera that connects via wifi to a smart phone. The more these damn adds appeared the closer I got to buying one. It was advertised for around $30
I'm already very much aware of the joys of owning a car designed in the 80's. Just to get that out of the way early so you folk (you know who you are) can keep your eyes on the prize here.
So bugger FB, I found the same thing on eBay for $18 delivered. At that price, whats the worst that could happen .... so I bought 2 because I couldnt decide on the black or the white, so I have one of each
These things are trully trully freaken awesome, and thats before you take into account they are only $18. They connect effortlessly to the phone App which is handy for me because my phone lives in a charging cradle at eye level. The rez is 1080 full colour. Its tiny, rechargeable, it is itself magnetic and also attaches to a tiny magnetic gimble. The damn thing also has audio, and if that isn't enough it also has infrared.
The Chinkanese have truly outdone themselves with this gem. A similar Australian product, would cost $399 plus $35 del, the wifi would be rubbish and connect to the phone in a passing car, the picture would be unrecognisable, and the magnet wouldn't be strong enough to hold its own weight.

Infrared. I could only find two places with the appropriate test level of darkness. I presumed you all would appreciate me choosing this of the two places I found for the pics

The wifi is so strong, with the caravan parked almost a car length inside the factory I can mount the camera rear bumper of the caravan and still get a good wifi connection and picture in the Troopy parked outside on the other side of the roller door.

The true worth of this camera is the extra curricular activity available well beyond the fixed mount reverse camera of any car designed after 1980. The camera comes with oned small 5c size self-adhesive metal disk that can be permanently mounted to a non-metal surface to attached the camera. The wifi strength will allow the camera to be mounted virtually anywhere either on the car or on the caravan, so not only a reverse camera for idiots with 1980's designed cars but if you take your caravan into some tight places you'd understand the benefits of having an infinitely mountable portable camera .... you could even stick it in a tree if need be.
For reasons that are obviously way above my pay grade, apparently mounting it in the shower would cause extreme pain.
