I have just been reminded how important it is to get yourself checked for skin damage from our sun. Two years back I asked my skin care specialist about a pimple type thing on my lower lip. He just sprayed it with the usual freeze stuff. A year later it was showing up again so I saw a different skin care doc. His opinion was that it was nothing, just scrape it occasionally and it would be ok. Two months ago I asked my own GP about it and his response was “not my field, I will send you to a dermatologist.” He promptly organised me to have a biopsy which showed it was a ‘squamous carcinoma’ and needed to be fully removed and sent me to a plastic surgeon.

End result was today I had a 12mm wedge removed from my lower lip so it is now 12mm shorter than it was yesterday and my rugged looks are now more rugged. B0DC32ED-4884-4F2D-BBE9-3605F46DDC51.jpeg

I am told the swelling should settle down in a couple of weeks but next week all the stitches come out so one more thing to enjoy. I asked the doc how many stitches he used but he wasn’t counting. I told him it felt like he was making a tapestry.

Just get yourself checked guys before things get to serious.

I sympathise with you @chartrock, I visit a dermatologist every 2 months or so and get squamous and basal cell carcinomae cut out. they just seem to keep popping up. Luckly no melanoma.
Next apointment is Friday 6th.
Evidence of a misspent youth!!

Booked in next Tuesday actually for the Skin Specialist to check me over, nothing so far which is very nice as I spent years in shorts, no shirt sailing around the ocean, damn lucky really...............

Thinking of you @chartrock with those problems. As if you have not been through enough hell in the past year or so. Keep a "good stiff upper lip" and get well quickly. If you get more rugged looking, you will challenge some TV stars!!
