As the title suggests, red light on the switch panel for the Suburban SW6DEA HWS stays on all the time.

Running on 240v. Plenty of hot water so system appears to be working fine. Gas off.

Had a look inside the enclosure outside and there is the reset panel with 2 rubber covered ‘buttons’ but pressing these feel like no buttons underneath the rubber. Ie nothing pushes in.

The operating manual is pretty limited in info so anyone had this issue before?

If it looks a bit like this, that's the HWS gas switch. Has no other purpose, ie irrelevant when using mains power and stays turned off. Only use it when you want to use gas, typically off the grid or freecamping. The red light comes on when its not lighting as a fault indicator, which will happen if your gas bottle is off. You can use mains power and gas together, sometimes thats handy if you've run out of hot water because the shower hog used it all, and you want to turbo the re-heat.

The gas flame can be a bit flaky in the wind or after a dusty drive. The light comes on with the switch, goes out for a minute, and then comes on again. That means the gas ignited but the flame sensor did not detect it properly or the flame was unstable and the controller shut it down (usually after a few tries).

I found a few attempts following this sequence got the flame going but after a year I ended up replacing the spark/flame detector.

Another quirk of the design is when the water has been fully heated on 240 and you turn on the gas. The light won't go out at all.. well until the water cools a bit
