Hi
Pick up our new van 6 weeks ago, been out every second weekend so far but this week end we found out if you have the stereo on and you turn the hot water on the stereo cuts of. I'm sure it's just a little wiring problem.
Can contact Jayco but that means waiting and taking to van back it them. Has anyone else have this problem, and can it be fix our selves

Thats a new one to me.
Agree it is likely a simple wiring issue.
Does it work again afterwards?

If not the check fuses, may be on the same fuse?

Strange as one is 12v the other 240, does the radio actually shut down as in lights go out or just the station goes ??? Or do you mean turn the tap on ??

Thanks for you replys.
The radio turns off . We have to turn it back on with the on/ off button.
Spoken to our dealer about it and they have not hear of anything like this before. There solution is to bring it in for a service and we will take a look.
Was hoping not to bring it back as there service fee I think are a bit steep.
I thought it was a warranty issue.

so is it when you turn a tap on or when you turn the HWS on at the mains ?

It happens when you turn the tap on to get hot water.
Heading away this weekend so we will check it out again,
Is it only hot water or any time the water pump runs ?

If the pump and radio are somehow on the same circuit it's possible it's upsetting the electronics on the radio

Thats happened before, someone posted about it........think it was the radio and pump on the same circuit, poor wire or connectors and pump sucked all the power so radio cut out...........................probably have to pull the Setek out and see what wires are hooked up where as the fuse ID tags outside may not be correct, do not be surprised if they don't correspond to the tags nor if the connectors are loose.

Gday, all suspect the pump is sufficient load on the 12volt system as to lower the voltage sufficiently to cause the radio shutdown.
Or.
The pump is operated via a relay which disconnects the stereo, less likely and suspect the former.
Not an auto electrician but try reinstating the stereo after the pump has been going a couple of secs

Good luck with it an keep us posted...intrigued! Chp

I'd agree, pump making radio hit low voltage cut out point or a high resistance joint somewhere making it happen. Is it when you're freeing camping on your own battery or plugged in with setek running or both?

HI all
Did some more investigation on the problem. It happens with the water pump not the HWS as we first thought.
Clewsy it happens on both free camping and when connect to power

That's what I thought must be happening.

Will be a wiring issue as discussed in previous posts.

We had our setec work loose from the fascia is was screwed to on our trip last year.
Fixed it with more and better screws but did have a light stop working shortly after.
Turnout out to be just the plug had come off the tab at the back of the setec, obviously when it shifted alignment when the initial screw stripped out.
When we got this reattached there were others that were loose also but not off yet (still working )
I woudl start by looking there might just be a dodgy connection

good tip @willobee I found the same thing with some of the spade connectors on the setek, could be the reason for the voltage drop on pump / radio circuit. You can either replace them or just use a pair of pliers and crimp them a little to make them hold to terminal.

I ended up going over every 12v connector I could get at in my old 14 and redoing if not replacing them as they were very poorly done, some fell off in my hand. In fact the lead from the battery wasn't even fastened into the battery switch, just pushed in...

Yep Voltage drop most stereo's these days will cutout when the volts drop.
Check you battery isn't stuffed and as said above check all the connectors.

To confirm this unplug the stereo and run a multimeter on the wires then turn on a tap.
