Snug Beach Cabin and Caravan Park

http://www.seasidetouristparks.com.au/snug.asp

Snug is a little township about 30k south of Hobart heading down toward Huonville. The closest real town is Kingston a bit to the North.

The caravan park is down close to the beach. One end is meters from the beach with access, the other has a council carpark between it and the beach. It’s a standard gravel loop road with powered sites around the edge, and in the middle (I reckon around 25 or so) and large grassed non powered areas front and down the back. There's only a few sites in the middle of the loop and some are split into very small sites suitable for a Finch or Dove or camper. The other two in the middle are drive thrus and effectively very large. The back sites with a view over the water are probably the best in the park, the drive thrus (which we got) next best :)

The park is pet friendly, and I saw a couple of camp fires in barrels. There's a boat ramp around the corner, and fishing was reported as being good one day, but nothing the next…

There's been report of this park in other reviews of the owners being very painful and quite rude to anyone and everyone. The current owners took over at the start of December and really nice people.

Amenities were rebuild in the last few years with good numbers of facilities. They have a security code, but wasn't in use when we were there. A large rec room next to the amenities have games, tv, couch and computer. A good camp kitchen too. I don't recall any significant playground as such, but I vaguely recall a swing.

The beach is great for swimming, and is in a large bay or inlet or some other correct term, but appears pretty sheltered by Bruny Island. We didn't see much in the way of waves.

Last time in Hobart we stayed in Treasure Island CP about an equal distance north of the city and comparing the two…Snug wins hands down. Lets say 4.2513489/5 on the SD scale
