Residual Water in Shower Base

We have had our 16.49-3OB for a bit over a month now - just spent 8 days at Mittagong (nice to meet you Bushman!) - van behaved very well, but one irritating aspect is the water left in shower base after a shower - no matter how level you think you have the van some water pools in the base (pity Jayco don't have centre drain with slight fall to the middle). Got tired of mopping the water up after shower so that we wouldn't get wet feet when using the toilet!

So I did something about it and made a wooden slat base for the shower so that any residual water sits underneath - no more wet feet.

Treated pine moulding from Bunnings Mittagong - 40mm x 12mm and 30mm x 30mm - stainless steel decking screws - I am now letting it dry out and will then coat with marine polyurethane finish before next trip away.

looks great! Though I'd be worried about potential moisture and/or mould build up. Our two boys like pushing the water to the hole with the squeggie and we completely dry the shower area after use anyway.

Your comments are valid Andrea - that's why I'm going to seal the wood with a water resistant polyurethane or similar finish PLUS it would be a good idea every couple of days or so to put it outside for a while in the sun and do mop of floor while airing timber base - I just won't have to mop/squeegee floor as often as now!!

No feet on the bottom - tight fit - does not move - also the weight of a person is distributed evenly over the shower base via the 30mm x 30mm underneath supports. Though so far it has only been used for 2.5 days!
I made it so that the shallow channel around the edge of the shower base is kept clear.

Ay thats my idea. Na well done mate. I hate it too specially when kids have been in & on top of that dont pull the shower screen around & leave the dunny & sink saturated to say the least.
My missus recons a plastic type of jobbie would also be great. I like the look of timber but to break up the feel of plain jane white. Well done.
