Stonechips:
So, my rocktamer style mudflaps weren't as effective as hoped....i'll upgrade to a Stone Stomper or Towtector brush style mudflaps before the next outback trip.
Any recommendatiosn on how to fill larger chips and otherwise buff / smooth oput the little chips and repair the clear cout? Is it soemthing i can do or does it need to go to a auto repairer or a boat repairer or a varavan shop?
Awning:
I have a approx 1 foot long rip in the Carefree awning, along the barrel, where the rubber strip bed the awning into the barrel. Left the awning out when went out for a few hpours, breeze came up, turned into a howling gale; if i got back minutes later it would have gone completely!
I have pathched it with awning repair tape (just white gaffa tape really). That si a temprary repair. Seems to me i need to either get it repaired proerly (canvas patch sewed on) which means the awning nees to come off the van. If i'm doing that, may as well get a new awning (tiem to call the insurer i gues).
But, looking at it, it seems to me that the material the awanings are made from isn't as stong as decent canvas. I'm wondering whether anyone has had a decent canvas awning made (or knows of any suppliers) which can replace the Carefree awning but still work on the barrel? I imagine i can get a cheque form the insurer and pay the difference.
