While standing there admiring the large shiny white toy, my gaze shifted to the factory fitted steel treadplate step and I thought about its ground clearance and how it could bend very easily causing possible damage to the chassis and tyre. On closer inspection, the axles are the lowest clearance point, not the steps & frame, however, it looks like something waiting to be grabbed by the ground and bent.

As we are planning to do the Gibb River Road and some other fun places, I was wondering if others have removed the factory step all together and just use a portable single or double step, or if they have retro fitted one of the low profile steel treadplate steps.
