I'm installing a diesel fuel tank in my 2012 Discovery boot and want to fix the filter and fuel line etc to the rear wall in the boot. It has a plastic type of covering and I presume a ply backing. If I'm correct can anybody tell me how thick that ply is. Thanks

Not very, I think my 14.44 it was 5mm if that.........I honestly wouldn't want the tank in the boot, they do vent as well as stink.

Thanks for the replies,
Drover, I have built an enclosed box and using a different tank other that the one supplied I was also going to vent it from the tank itself to the outside via a tube.
Johnanbev, How did you mount it on the A frame, do you have a photo.

That would be the way @Jaybird , if the cap could vent direct to outside thru a filter, like an old petrol filter that would stop dust and allow the tank to breath, I would fit a drain plug in floor for those times it needs a flush out, unlike petrol one drop of diesel will cover an area the same as a bottle of milk....... last trip I out my 5lt diesel can in a steel ammo box on the rear of van which has my lube stuff, I knew I shouldn't have put it in there as it wasn't long till everything was oily and covered in red dust, even with it cleaned up and the damn can in a bag it escaped........

I quite liked a few shown using a boat tank mounted under the van seemed to be quite a good idea. Filler at front or back.
