Thought I would throw this one out there for you to share your set ups. Utes or wagons more than welcome to share. I haven`t got the coin to spend 2K on decking out the back of the Triton but I would like a couple of drawers and a drop down fridgeslide to utilise the space in there. I am reasonably handy and think I can make something that will suit both taking the van and heading bush with just the kids in the swags.

I built my own drawers for the 80 series I had and had a drop down fridge slide. I haves also built a couple of other sets for friends and then for my patrol after the 80 got smashed up. I used ply around a aluminium frame. Got most of the gear from Bunnings, including carpet. Bought the handle and drawer runners off the net. Has worked a treat fro what I needed and saved me a hell of a lot of coin. I think it cost me about $600 to make what I wanted. I think I have some photos, I'll see if I can find them. Cheeers Ben

I have had the outback in a last car. This time around i toyed with the idea for a while, then decided i could do them myself. So i used a combo method.

Used a "C" shaped steel section (i had this folded) for the 3 uprights (maximize space) then made 2 timber draws. One bigger than the other, this is so i can put my drop slide on the top. of the larger draw. Then covered in carpet, and filled in the side panels and end panels to appear like an outback set. I found it extremely frustrating to have to pit the fridge up to open the draws. With 2 different size draws i can have 1 draw open while still having the fridge down.

I used a draw slide for "Universal engineering Supplies" I used blind nuts pulled into the timber and used M6 cap screws to attach. I went with blind nuts as they have more surface area and less likely to work in the timber than self tapping screws.

I also have blind nuts fitted under the top so i can pull the drop slide in and out with ease and not stripped the timber. But i am yet to fit and take photos of the slide.

I have some progress shots (complete with photo bomb by my helper), but none of the finished product. I was going to get some in the weekend and post in my thread. Total cost for carpet, screws, timber, runners etc was $591.

Just realised they are not in my build, so here is what i have. Did not take any of the finished product and need to update my build.

I cheated as I am time poor. Made the base plate and bought a single drifter drawer. The one with the removable table. Tbh I couldn't ever see me making the drawers and table for $700 and I really wanted the table, it's the best camp table I have ever seen. Will make a surround for the fridge next.

I like the drifta draws as well I'm thinking of doing the HDPE slide type thing with mine instead of rollers. And the tables do look the goods.

Picked this liquid tank up from work for nothing, it has a light gauge galv frame which I recon I can make the carcass for my draws out of. It's not a bad size 1200 x 1000 and there is various spacings for me to choose for my height. Hopefully get a little bit done over the weekend but it will take a while for me to complete.

Some great looking drawers there, something I would love to do if my wife would stop using the 7 seats! I don't have a table saw so whenever I've done projects that require cutting out plywood I order it cut to size from plywood specialist....nice and square and you only pay for the ply! :)

Mine weren't home made but a good bit of kit for a reasonable price compared to most of the shop ones, they original were fitted to my previous Pathie (R50) with some modification they went into the Pajero, there's access to storage under the unit also (Pajero rear seats removed) I have a matching box that sits on the fridge slide when fridge isn't in use., drawer and carcase is all aluminium, timber base/top/fridge hood. going to had a removable top section off side of fridge to give a full top shelf.

Just keep in mind the height of the drawers and your canopy to allow enough room for the fridge. Mine just fits just, but unfortunately i can't have a drop down slide

Thanks @KevO I think I have my measurements right. What canopy have you got? And how do you go getting into the fridge?
