Is there any reason why I couldn't hook my aux battery in the Ute to the Van using an Anderson plug extension ????..........or would something get cooked ???

Both the Anderson on the Ute and Anderson on the van are connected directly to the battery ?????
Was thinking the Ute aux battery isn't being used and it would be some extra power for the cloudy days....

No reason at all. My tug has its own auxilliary battery and I have 2 in the van. I can hook my anderson to the van batteries giving me 3. When driving it gets both solar and alternator supply. When stopped it gets solar to all 3, keeping the engel in the car going.

I have a separate anderson to run the fridge, and usually hook that up instead, but have used it both ways and everything works fine

Thanks, I was sure it would work but sometimes there can be something you miss. Need to buy some cable and make a longer lead now.

Mmmm.

It would depend on how the Anderson is set up.

Our grey AP which takes power from the car ...our second battery...won't allow us to input solar to the van. We had to have a second one fitted.

They said the draw bar AP wouldn't do it. Though, at that stage of the setup, I was sick of arguing with them. And all makers seem to do it differently.

If they both input power I couldn't see that it would be a problem but I could if we wanted to take power from the van. I know our grey one on the car provides power as well as I used the compressor on it. The one time I tried to take power from the van it blew a fuse.

Just adding that in case yours is set up the same.

Yours from the car probably goes straight to the fridge I have one of them but have another which runs direct to battery, van has one in the tow harness for fridge but another on the side for plugging in gear or solar panels and it runs direct to battery, both will run both ways.......always run compressor from tug battery with engine running otherwise they draw too much power, works way quicker with the alternator power.

Identical setup to mine. 1 Anderson straight to the battery and a second one straight to the fridge.

I only have 1 on the tug so select between the two depending on the situation

Yep, I have one on the back from tug battery, one on side from aux and inside the Shed (Alloy Canopy) have one from ute and aux so I can pick which power source to run the engel when driving, run off Ute so solar can charge up the aux, temp set up till I get my Cetek 250s or Projecta DC- DC charger...........gets close then something like tyres jump the queue.

I have been using a 7 meter x 6mm twin cable with 2 AP on one end ( for connecting my portable solar panels ) for several years without any problems

If you hook up an anderson plug and lead to the battery in the caravan, do you have to disconnect the power feed in the 7 pin plug?
