Hi guys,
Any idea why the electronic ignition on my stove top (Smev in an OB17 isn't working? I'm able to manually light with the gas on and a lighter, and I know there is power to the stove because the hotplate is working.

Battery flat in the electronic ignition.

Depending on the model it will be a seperate battery holder somewhere. Or they will be inside the ignition unit.

Try and get a service diagram for the model and you'll find the ignition unit pretty quickly

Hi @YouarehereOz ,
the electronic ignition on the Smev works off 12V not 240V.
This is what I would do if my ignition was not working. But your stove may be different.

If you have a Jayco, the 12V power to the stove is wired back to your Setec power supply /battery charger.

Assuming you do not have a 12V battery in your van:
First, when you are connected to 240V, check the Setec unit, you should have a green light on, nothing else.
Second, you lights run off 12V, so they should be working.
Third, one of the fuses on the Setec will be used to supply 12V to your Smev. But don't believe the Jayco diagram inside
the fuse panel, it could well be incorrect. Mine was.
If you can get hold of a multimeter, pull out each fuse and check if it is blown or not. Otherwise, just inspect each one to see if is blown or not.
If you are lucky, you might be able to get your head into a space under the stove to look at the 12V terminal. Perhaps a wire has fallen off. If you have a multimeter, check if you have 12V across the terminals.

I hope this helps a little.

cheers
Mike
