All I can say about this place is "Its Awesome"

Everything From Cabins, large powered sites, Ensuite sites or bushing camping at the rear, and would have one the the best amenities blocks I've seen in a CP. Camp kitchen with TV new pool area, camp fire pit lit management, pet friendly year round very, helpful friendly staff.

This is the one out near the bore baths, isn't it?

If so, I was there at Easter and loved it, though they didn't have the pool in then.

The sites are huge and drive through too.

It is definitely the best park in town.

When we were there they had music nights, movie nights for the kids.

The bore baths are cleaned daily and very relaxing.

How long did you stay in the park?

We were there a couple of months back too. Very happy with it.
Been meaning to do a few reports on parks.....but everything Bushy said!

There is also a mullock heap for fossiking around in up the back. While we were there, a couple of people found enough opal to pay for a few nights stay.

When we were there there was something like 40-50mm rain over three days. Although the roads were muddy, all the sites had so much pebbles, there was very little mud

Have to agree with everyone, this place is fabulous. Don't even bother trying to whack a tent peg in though, it's rock hard. Spending 4 days and will be back for sure.

Can't recall if it was here or elsewhere were they'd lend you a hammer drill to put some screws in?

also worth mentioning that whilst the park is a gem, we found that lightening ridge itself aint for everyone, it is a mining town. the other thing is if it is wet there, there is a looooooooot of clay around. the sort that bonds 1" think to your boots and needs to be gurney'd off before setting.

mmmmm interesting place, that park is great and the manager is very accommodating, we did learn one thing however, new years is way to hot there (which explains why there was only 1 other camper) lol

It hit 42 a few days last October while we were there, but bearable as no humidity, summer is definitely their "LOW" season

Interestingly though, due the way the sites have been done, it doesn't actually get sloppy under foot where your van sits.

the slide show of the parks construction is interesting, believe there was 13,500 ton of fill used to level the sits

We absolutely loved the place. The caravan park took a huge dump of rain while we were there and it coped surprisingly well.

Make sure you get out to see a sunset a few k's out of town where you can stand up on a hill (the ridge) see the western horizon in all its glory.

There is also a rock maze for the kids to play in. All quite spectacular.

funny looking at the old posts and pics, we were ther over new years and they hadn't had rain for 2 years, guessing the rain in the pics was what they were talking about

Still one of the best parks you will find, leaves many behind with reasonable rates and has facilities that would shame most, if not all of the high flying coastal rubbish.
The biggest sites you will find anywhere.
Good TV reception.
WiFi just getting upgraded.
Short walk to Mineral Spa baths....perfect.
Top Tourist park. .............http://www.opalcaravanpark.com.au/
