Afternoon all, found this brilliant blog looking for tyre pressure info. Now much more informed thanks to you all. Have a 12 ft expanda, after having a Dove for 20 yrs. One difference is that my plate says run at 325 kpi i have just discovered ( see my other post under tyre pressures ) It was delivered at 280. Been to Qld last winter, off to Perth after Easter. Happy days to all.

G'day Alan and welcome to the forum. :high5: Qld is good, (live there) Perth excellent (just been there). Lots of information available here to help you plan trips, and modify the van etc. Where abouts are you based? Like to see some pix of your rig. :biggrin1:

Hi Alan
Welcome to the group. Hope you find lots of useful info here.

re the tyre pressures, 325 seems a bit high. 280 is closer to the mark, but I'd even go 250 (36psi) on the van. If correctly pressured, they should heat up about another 4psi. 280/40psi at hot should be ample in most cases.

(I'm disregarding the benefits  of nitrogen here though)

Hi gday and welcome youll have a ball here on this site , as far as your tyre pressures go on your 12 fter if you stick around 38- 40 psi {old scale) you cant go wrong on the black stuff, forget about nitrogen unless your going to race your van , once your on the road and you check your tyres with a normal compressor youve contaminated what nitrogen you have and your back to square one
cheers Russell

Thanks for your help and to all the others as well. Good news as i did 9000 k at 38. Will settle on 38 - 40. Never used a blog before so will take a while to learn the ropes. I have finished my offroad days, did them all with an offroad Dove and various 4wds so can now stick with one tyre pressure. Getting softer as i get older. My Perth route is from Melb, Morgan, Port Augusta, Esperance, Albany, Perth, Kalgoolie and home.
