Hello everybody.
First time joining a forum and first time owning an Expanda. We previously owned a Jayco Freedom (and loved it) but had to sell due to havin the wrong ratio of bodies to beds. We have just purchased a 2008 Expanda Outback 16.49.3 (did I get that right - it has bunk beds..) with the hard lids. The original owners bought it new and hardly used it. Unfortunately they left it out in the weather with no cover, so it has some fading / perishing. I've ordered some new decals and plastics. Going to start scrubbing with the fibreglass polish soon.
Unfortuantely I didn't really do any research before buying an Expanda - I just liked the concept - so I still don't really know my way around it yet. I have to get it sorted before our first trip next month. I hope somebody may be able to help me out with my first question (one of many, I'm sure). When the bed is opened there are two plastic coated steel cables on either side, going from the body to the base of the bed. Are these supposed to be taught or slack? It appears the base is currently supported by the canvas (?) body only. This appear to have resulted in the top corners of the canvas coming out of the channels in the body. Without body weight on the bed, the cables are slack. There does appear to be diffirent postions for them to be located on the body, so I assume they can be tightened.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to tell me if I ask questions in the wrong area of the forum - it's all new to me.
