Hi all, just a couple of questions if someone could help me, im impatiently awaiting the the arrival of our new 16.49.3 and wanted to buy some bits and pieces before it comes as we pick it up on thr 29th of december and take it away for 3 weeks the next day and wont have a chance to have a close look and see what is needed..
Does anyone have any suggestions on what i need?
Does anyone know how long the track is on the roolout awning as i want to buy a shade wall?
And lastly does anyone know the length of the ends as i also want shade walls for them?
Thanks in advance

We had our walls made by sunbuster and very happy with them but we had to take the van to them for measuring. I know they sell directly through jayco so not sure if they use a standard size for that.

I was speaking with sunbuster yesterday as they are now making a variation of the side wall which can be used as a porch. It extends the roof area from the annex and is supported by two poles and a spreader bar and folds over to give protection for BBQ etc. I like the idea and it's now on their web site.

If I wasn't so fazed by adding links via an iPad I'd do it.

But I can't!

Just a couple of things I can think of are...
Anti flap kit and tie downs for awning.
I always carry a couple of small blocks of timber
For those not so level sites to put under jockey wheel if needed.
I also carry a jack stand to put under the drawbar
Instead of leaving all the weight on the jockey wheel.

I'd also suggest when doing handover at dealers
To record on camera the setup of van especially Awning
And lighting of fridge etc....

And one more thing....
Don't forget to pack a smile
For the poor bloke with the trailer full of
Bikes and tents while your sitting down enjoying a coldie.

Cause we've all been there.

SWMBO once didn't turn the fridge to 12V just before setting off, lucky was short trip so food didn't spoil!
Make sure you have the correct electrics for your tug!
12V feed with isolator for your fridge when traveling, matching plug to van etc, etc.
We had 12 pin on old tug, 7 pin round on Penguin with 'converter', lost the converter somewhere along Tunnel Creek road. Now have 14.44-5 OB and plugs match, is much more secure also wired up Anderson plug on BT50 and Expanda for fridge when traveling (isolates when ignition is turned off).
Also have a Thumpa spare battery in the BT50 that trickle charges as we travel. Never know when you unexpectedly forget to unplug and get a flat battery out the middle of nowhere and need to jump start, diesels need more than a normal car battery to kick over. Hope that helps.

Some other things,
Make a checklist of reminders of what you need to do for setting up and packing up
Double check your roof latches before heading off and ensure awning knobs are tight (carry a spare)
Collapsible bucket
Collection of different hose fittings and connectors and different length grey water hoses. I have various lengths that I can join together if needed. The shorter the hose, the better drainage you'll get with less chance of backing up.
Filter for your inlet hose
We have a small solar light we use to light up the tow hitch on the van, no more sore shins when you go outside at night.
Sensor light for fridge and next to toilet (Get them from TBGS)
Hooks by the door to hang keys, small led torch etc.....

And lots of 12v cables for charging phones iPads etc.

Carry spares as they always fail when away from home.

Also, those 240v adapters for the cables. Makes life easier.

How about a tool kit? Can be pared down a bit if you quickly check which spanners etc required before you leave.

Do you need a small step for doorway? We certainly do and it'll drive you mad if you don't have one.

Yes definitely make sure your hoses and power cord are long enough! And check the distance from the van to the power & water - on our first trip we pulled up, unhitched, set up the van, dropjacks, awning etc then went to connect the water and realized we were a metre short....

As others have mentioned we now carry extra hose just in case, and we always check the distance before unhitching lol :)

The damn things don't stretch!

We've often misjudged the distance so did without the water connection due to laziness....a portable 20l container was easier to use than to shift the van.

Shame about the shower but usually have enough water on board to stave off the pong.
