Chassis Mounting spare tyre on the rear

hey guys where did you get your mounting bracket for the rear to go on the Starcraft outback rear bar from .?

Hi Glen, I’d like to buy one of these from your son but looks like your in WA and I’m in NSW so freight would be too pricey I’d say

Yes - too far away. But you would still require someone to weld the uprights onto the bumper.

You require:
a) two pieces of angle 2mm - not too long as they must be below the bed.
b) piece of 40x40 2mm thick - about same height as the spare.
c) another piece 40x40 just long enough to go from the 40x40 upright to the back of the tyre rim.
d) flat bar and bolts to put the tyre onto.
Drill 2 holes in the angle - bottom to take the pivot bolt (Hole at least 20mm from bottom to allow the upright to pivot) and at top to take the removable hitch pin.
Weld the angle wide enough for the 40x40 to move freely - but not too much.
Weld bolts to the flat bar and flat bar to piece c
Position & weld piece c onto piece b so the bottom of the tyre is above the end of the piece
Drill piece b for the pivot and hitch pin. Leave ~15mm for the pivot.
Bolt the bottom pivot - you may have to grind some off the facing edge to allow the bar to pivot outward.

Bolt wheel to upright.
