If your in the Bourke area and looking for a CP Kidman's Camp is the place to be, located on the Mitchell Hwy at Nth Bourke,
They do not take bookings for sites so just roll up there's plenty of room with a lot of nice grassy drive through sites others are reverse in. so for the pick of spots you want to be in by mid afternoon.
If your after a free camp in the area, a fellow traveller there told me of May's Bend right on the banks of the Darling River, didn't get a chance to sus it out but the turn off is a few k's past Kidman's and is dirt rd access slick when wet.
