Jockey Wheel/Stand

I've noticed quite a few have replaced their jockey wheel with a plate and those I've asked said it stops added rocking when set up.
Well I had an unused jockey wheel in the shed and cut the wheel off and welded on a plate, set it up on the van and didn't really notice any great change.
Anyone been down this path at all or use them.

I suppose there isn't much point having a wheel on the front of our 3 tonne Behemoth ...
