All,

Help please.

Having ordered the 20.64-1 with extended drawer bar, Jayco factory are now saying they cannot fit the 2 x Jerry Can holders on the drawer bar as it will block the spare wheel ?

Any photos of the drawer bar extended on a 20.64-1 and how much space it has ?

Sounds like BS to me ?

Hi there @Swerve, mine is the 21.64-1 but my understanding is that that 20.64-1 will have an identical draw bar (mine is also extended)

I have opted for a 3rd tank for grey water so that is probably not possible. Might have the fight with Jayco tomorrow

We have same as @Bellbirdweb , however we had our spare put on the bumper. We now have a box on the front. On our travels we have seen people with jerries on the back.

Thanks Bellbird,

I have just written to Jayco requesting jerry can holders go in front of the gas bottles, obliviously I accept any risk as to difficult spare access, but also said the jerries can holders can be unbolted as needed, and a box will eventually go along the drawer bat requiring the spare to be moved.

Lets hope they agree.

My experience with Jayco is that they just say no.

I wanted 16" wheels, and they refused to supply them because the spare wouldn't fit.

I did the measurements and proved that it would fit, and they still said they won't do it, so good luck.

When I was going through options, the 16" wheel only gives a 8mm lift .

245/70-16 diam - 749mm
235/75-15 -diam - 734mm

Coming from a 4wd background I was wanting as much height as possible. To get 8mm lift is nothing, so would rather stay with the 15" and have better bag when deflating for dirt roads etc.

Very little benefit, other then if I had 16" rims I could get larger tyres later on, but in reality will never happen, to be honest.

Ask for spare to be shifted to the rear. Spare where it is is useless anyway, bolt that holds it in place gets bent underneath when it bottoms out and then can't undo.
Shifted mine to the rear myself, then put JC holders on myself and used spare tyre rack as a basket for annexe.
Do it yourself?

Marv,

Agreed, what I really want from this is the welded chassis mounts/ plus hot dipped for later use. Also the Jerry can hardware doesnt affect my plated payload capacity. Once I get it, it all changes anyway

the thoughts for going for 16' V's 15' is the weight carrying capacity
as a "rule of thumb"
15' are 800 - 1000kg each
16' are 1100-1500kg each

by going to the larger rim, you are in effect raising your maximum load per axle
which sometimes helps with what we load into caravans now days

Bigcal,

I have a 16" factory wheel at home and photos of my 15" now gone.

15" rated as 110 - 1060kg
16" rated as 111 - 1090kg

Times 4 wheels is well above by max trailer weight anyway, hub and axle strength will be the same. On a dual axle maybe more relevant, but does make you think outside the box.

As I like playing in dirt, the balloon effect wins for me, and no height benefit, which is what I would really be chasing. I have had my payload increased to 600KG so get heavier springs, and maybe some extra lift as well

Well Jayco have won and will not install the extra factory mounts on the drawbar. dealer said they could do it after delivery which I rejected. So I will work something else out once I take delivery and only me will be modifying my van
