After all the question (thanks for your patient advice) I finally bit the bullet.
In the end it was a new GX for $79 or a 2016 GLX with all the mods we needed done for $72.
Bullbar, duel battery, Redarc brake controller. Light bar, 7 pin With a 12 pin adaptor and Anderson, Anderson plugs in boot, Large Alpine sat nav, and it is absolutely spotless inside and out.
I love this car

Looks great and I'm sure your going to have fun.................................Just change the fuel filters more often than they advise or you could be stranded somewhere, 20,000km is better than the light on dash Toyota service schedule.

So my Question not is (I believe I have asked before). No sitting on the fence you people.
The car is a round 7pin plug. Nice large one which I haven’t seen before and Anderson. With a round to 12 adapter I found the a boot pocket.
OK, am I changing the car to a 12. Or changing the caravan to the 7 (it’s nicely tucked away) and an Anderson?

Go the anderson for fridge power to van then you won't have problems, flat 7 or round 7 is the way to go, though there are some large round 7 pins that are really HD but replacement on road could be difficult. The 12 pins are expensive and do cause problems as the HD pins really aren't big enough for decent high draw cable runs.

Thank you DRW and Drover, I will take your advice. The good thing is with the adapter I can get the van home (12 nov) it’s been sitting there for a while.

Agree with @Drover about changing fuel filter well worth doing (plus carry a spare filter). Also consider a "water watch" it does not affect the flow rate of diesel needed to cool the turbos, but does provide protection against water and crap, it uses a centrifugal action and water alarm, good insurance at around $800, got mine fitted by Toyota dealer, so no warranty issues.
Also think about dropping the auto transmission fluid at about every 30-40K if towing a lot Toyota only charge a bit over $130 and again cheap insurance, so far have done it twice at 80K, probably towed about 60-70K of that 80K. Fluid is darker, but no smell, always get dealer to give me a sample of drained fluid.
Good luck with the Toyota.
Regards
Terry
