Exterior HWS relief valve - another 'genuine' price

Replaced the relief valve in my suburban HWS today. The 'genuine' price is $234!!! It's a bog standard HT55 1/2 inch 850kpa australian standard relief valve available on ebay for 45 bucks.

New vs old...identical specs

The old one has plenty of deposit on it. Had to clean the thread

The new one was slightly tricky to tighten because the spanner has to fit in a tight spot whereas the original had flats just behind the relief lever.

$234 bucks!!!! I am still stunned

Do a good job and you can come over to my place and do mine, or I'll meet you half way but I think I might need the barrel as well, things don't sound great inside.......... 19ft and $900 thank you, being so long 3 people at least and 40ft of tressel so will line up a barbie at son the builders place and one of his crews as helping hands, I will stand back and direct the evolution..... only 2 of us to change around the 14.44's awning.
