A few questions about the hot water services
1, how long do you get to shower before hot water runs out
2.how long to heat up water ,on gas ,on power ,and someone told me you could run it on gas and power at same time to heat the water even more quickly
3.do they use much gas
Thanks
Simon

In answer to your questions:-
1. I'm not sure of the size of the hot water storage but it is thermostaically controlled, so as you use water it is reheated. So, depending on how hard you have the water running in the shower you may be able to run it until you empty your water tank (but I doubt it). My wife and I both shower before the system starts to reheat.
2. It takes approx 20 minutes to heat from stone cold to hot but no, don't use power and gas at the same time. If on gas, as when free camping, switch the power off at the switch on the outside of the tank. If in van park then switch power on at the tank and leave the gas switch off.
3. No. We did 88 nights travelling WA last year, 46 of those free camping with no power so used gas for hot water and fridge plus cooking, used one 9kg gas bottle and around half of the second one.

Thanks for the reply all questions answered ,can you run gas and power at same time if needed for quick recovery, the gas usage sounds really good even better if you can get a cheap refill on a 9 kg bottle ,they have a special at the local milk bar filled up for $15 bargin

$15 for a 9kg refill is a good price. We used to have a camp store with a cheap Tuesday, $17, but it proved too popular so now it's $20 every day.

I'll have to check the manual tomorrow but I'm pretty sure it states NOT to use gas and power together.

Just found this on caravan plus web site, http://caravansplus.com.au/pdf/suburban.pdf It says that both can be operated at once but cannot find anything in the actual manual that does. I know we have used it on both when away and water supply was like ice, just helped with recovery time. We have had not ill effects so far.
Not saying you should that is up to the individual and whether they want to do it.

Cheers

The newer systems (ours 2010 model) can be run on gas and 240v together (according to our dealer) but not much point really I tried it once but found the gas only cut in if you totally run out of hot water, I normally run gas all the time just because its quicker, yeah I know why waste gas when your paying for power.

Oh average gas refill around here is $25, but there's a place I pass near work that is $17 so if I remember to take the empty to work with me....
