Hi guy's we are on our first trip in the heat the van is overbearingly hot. We have placed the sun shades from the windshield against the bed side as recommended by another member that works a treat. Just wondering if anyone has tried to lay a similar material on top of the bed ends, then put the privacy screen On top of that. Would this prevent water leakage as a secondary benifit.
Thanks Alan

Have added the thin roof insulation (silver one side blue the other)to the bed ends and sides of privacy screen. Swmbo sewd Velcro tabs to the screens the insulation. Erect beds fit roof insulation fit privacy screen clip insulation sides and ends. Drops the temperature inside the van significantly. Was in 40° heat and slept soundly

Had the roofing insulation bubble wrap stuff on the last van, sides only not the top.I think the seal from the sides to top created its own insulation layer..Massive difference to both heating and cooling. Standard storm covers made very little difference. Cost about $50 each end for the material delivered from ebay. I made cardboard templates to get the size then used tabs and snap fasteners to attach to the end lid.

While it doesn't look the greatest, we just set up a tent fly over the bed end, 2x tent poles and pegged to ground, tied off to van, provided shade and air flow just like a Queenslander or Landrover tropical roof. I have seen folks with a car awning they just pull out, thought it brilliant set up.
