well its been an expensive day just forked out $4100 for replacement of cracked head on 80 series landcruiser .better be all for this year as that adds up to $7000 spent on this car this year.

Ouch. We had the same thing on our '95 80 series as well. We got out of it at around $2000 - that was 6yr ago. It was a diesel and had only done 175k on the clock. We bought it second hand and reckon someone dodgied the speedo. No reason for a diesel to have gone so young! Either that or we just had real bad luck!

hi bj,yeah ours is 95 petrol/gas it sure puts a dent in the wallet ours has done 277k so suppose it was going to have something major go some time, oh well fingers crossed nothing else does for a while

Sometimes they do go for no obvious reason unfortunately and it can happen to alot of different engines too, I know that doesn't help your wallet though.

At least it should be right for another 10-15 years :thumb:. The one thing is to make sure the coolant is changed every couple of years too to help combat corrosion in the long term.

The other thing with the 24valve motors (I presume yours is) is get the valve clearances done regularly as its on gas.
