Due to the Bushfire that has been burning on Fraser for weeks Fraser Island is closed due to increased Fire Danger this weekend.

QUOTE from QFES 1600 27NOV20;

New campers and visitors will be unable to access K’gari (Fraser Island) from 5pm today (27/11), as fire conditions are expected to worsen over the weekend.
People already on K’gari (Fraser Island) do not need to evacuate at this stage however they should keep up-to-date by following QFES on social media, visiting the QFES Newsroom website and tuning into local radio.

Looks like Fraser Island will re-open to visitors 15DEC20, expect long lines when it does........... best to get permits online from QPWS heaps cheaper and barge tickets ring the Manta Ray Office at Rainbow Beach, if coming from Hervey Bay why not fly over and save money...............

While Fraser Island is now open, get your permits and everything before you head off up here as numbers are limited...........

Also if heading up to Cooloola Rec Area, Teewah beach, Double Island Point etc make sure you have a permit, rego recognition cameras are on the beach at Teewah entry, Freshwater and Leisha Track, no permit then expect a fine in the mail ........ Today at low tide access from Rainbow Beach to Double Island looked a bit suss at Mudlow Rocks so wouldn't even try it...........

Permits are required from entry at Teewah 3rd Crossing while at Rainbow Beach permits are required from Middle Rocks ................. It should be noted a Total Fire Ban is in place until 28th Feb 21 and Police do regular patrols probably more now due the idiots of recent events........
