Hi there, going to start to tow my 14.44.4 with my falcon au so l can save up to buy a patrol or landcruiser dont know yet.
Does anyone out there tow with a Au or what are ur thoughts on the combination.
Have to fit a auto cooler, heavy duty tow bar and heavy duty spring.

Cheers

I've never had a Falcon, so can't comment specifically, but...

Falcon AU / Fairmont AU Ser. I, II & III Sed / Wag Auto (ex Dedicated LPG) 1998-09/2002
Max tow mass with brakes=2300kg #1,3,8
10% of ATM 230kg max.
#1 When fitted with Ford Approved Towbar.
#3 When fitted with Ford Load Levelling kit.
#8 Max. towing speed reduced to 75 - 80km/h at 2300kgs.

Falcon AU / Fairmont AU Ser. I, II & III Sed / Wag Auto 1998-09/2002
Max tow mass with brakes = 1200kg #1
10% of ATM 230kg max.
#1 When fitted with Ford Approved Towbar.

Seems that "Ford Load Levelling Kit" allows an extra 1100kg tow mass. Check if that is a Ford specific unit or if a std HR Eza-Lift WDH is adequate.

Can you get away with airbags within the current springs rather than upgrading? Upgraded springs will likely make the ride when not towing a lot harsher?

I used to have a BA Falcon to tow my Jayco Swan.

I put Air bags in the back so when the van was on you could level it up and let the preassure out and drive the car like normal with out the van.

They worked great!

Thanks guys l asked and u cant get airbags due to the shocker run in the middel of the spring. Mine is not the IRS model.
And a nother one it used to have a brake controller in it from the first owner, the wiring used is 4mm going in the controller and coming out, is this ok? My caravan has only a single axle.
