Hi looking for a expander outback 14.44. just wondering if their is any years to keep away from? I would like one with
j-tec suspension and a extended draw bar with bunks for the kids. I reckon could be the perfect little van to travel Australia with for a year. Also any thing particular too look out for on these vans?

We have a 14.45 OB for just the two of us. Loo and shower, front bed only. Have done nearly 50,000km all over NT, WA, Qld and NSW and SA.
love it. Perfect for us and very easy to tow. Haven’t travelled since late 2019 since the Big C got me down for a year and then Covid 19 limited border crossings. Hope to be on the road again by Oct/Nov at least locally.

A 14.44 with 2 adults and 2 kids is okay for the school holiday run but you would find the walls closing in for a year long trip I reckon... Our 14.44 was a great van for 2 and we do miss it but on a 3 month tour the walls do tend to close in by the end....... I think they stopped the 14.44's before they did the Jtec bit, really can't see the need for it on a small van.

I wasn't sure, thought they ended the 14's about the same time, great van though, wish we still had ours for the shorter runs..... lot of extra weight though.

At the moment we travel in a dove outback Soni reckon a 14.44 will seem big and heaps of space lol. Extra weight being the J tech suspension?

It certainly would I think and yes the weight is in the suspension they are heavy bit of kit.
