Deloraine Apex Caravan Park

http://www.caravanparkstasmania.com/deloraine-caravan-park.htm

Had we know what this park was like, I reckon we might've stayed a few more nights than we did. It’s a big long road along the river with most of the 40 odd grassy sites on the top of the river bank. At the far end appears to be public camping spaces (as opposed to the CP ones) and only a small sign to delineate. Past that is the town swimming pool, then the outdoor art area, then parks. So basically the Caravan Park is open to anyone and everyone. The staff running it is offsite, in a house on the other side of the road.

Pet friendly, but there are a lot of ducks and geese around, and the river, so I'd suggest keeping a good eye on them (probably kids too if so inclined…). Don't know about campfires.

Amenities are keyed and in reasonable condition. Not many, but there was no waiting while we were there.

Like Ulverstone, the train line forms one of the boundaries of the park. In one night we had 4 freight trains go through (very slowly, and tooting every 10 metres)

Theres not much in the way of caravan park provided services, but the public parks and pool, and town are only a short walk away. And then there is the river. It appeared to be quite shallow - a couple of spots the kayaks got stuck - but people were still swimming in it. The stormwater does flow into it, so I'd suggest avoiding it after a downpour tho…. (?) A lot of fish jumping in the evening, so flys and small lures for trout would be good. A couple of people had lines just sitting in the water without a lot of success

Would happily stay there again, and just sit on the rivers edge contemplating life and our existence :). Well….and probably eating chips too.
