We are planning a 4 month trip to Central Australia and West Coast starting April/May.
Does anyone have an opinion on which way around we should go?

Don't know if this is relevant but we did north west from Brisbane years ago.

One factor we considered is the time of day you do most of the driving....in our case we're never on the road later than 3pm so we considered western sunsets acceptable - glaring sun in eyes after that if going west. Morning glare from sun was fine.

I hate driving into a glaring low sun.

Well I figure at some stage we're going to travel east to west and then at another stage we're going to travel west to east
It's just been suggested to me that the headwind is working for you or against you when crossing the Nullabour?

Anti-clockwise. Aim to hit Kununarra at around April/May (end of the wet). Then heading south you miss a lot of the grey nomads as they are still down south starting to head north in June. We didn't need to book any caravan parks going this direction and we missed most of the grey nomads.
