We are about to collect our new expanda, and we own a BMW *Try posting a bit more so your post isn't boring*. Jayco have advised us that they can't fit the required trailer connection and that that only an BMW service centre can do this. Called an auto electrician who also said that only BMW can fit the trailer connection and program the software in the vehicle. Apparently once this is done any auto elctrician can fit the electric brakes and controlling unit. Very worried that BMW are going to charge us a fortune to do this. Has anyone else had to do this? Any suggestions?

On our Toyota Kluger we were told that on newer cars they have to fit a special wiring harness to the plug because they cant just piggy back off the rear light connections like they used to. Newer cars run led lights which dont draw much current so the wiring in the car is smaller. When you fit an old style trailer with globe lighting, it draws more current, hence the special wiring loom to cater for that. Maybe something like that.

Then after reading the link above, my post is probably rabble, anyway thats what Toyota told us. Does look expensive.

Good luck, Geoff
