Hi all looking for opinions and information on the following.

I am keen to upgrade from a 16.49.1 OB to either a 17.56.2 OB or a 18.58.2 OB pop-top. However as there is now only 2 of us, I am looking for ones that have had the bunks replaced with cupboards (Sleeps 4 only). There have been a couple come up but usually interstate. Looking at ones with fridge on drivers side, so annex is legal.

For the 17.56.2 I beleive that this is 2015 onwards and possibly 2016 for the 18.58.2, which also stops being a pop-top at same time as well.

My problems / issues etc are:

  • What is the height of a 17.56.2 OB / 18.58.2 OB pop top including everthing on the roof. I need to know this to determine if I can fit it in the shed where the 16.49 is.
  • What is the length of a 17.56.2 OB / 18.58.2 OB pop top with the rear bed folded with or without a frame extension. (shed thing again).
  • opinions on the 17.56.2 combo shower/toilet. How to handle the wet / dry issue
  • opinions on the 18.58.2 where there is only a curtin for the toilet, but seperate from the shower.
Hoping to go to the Outdoor 4wd show (Adelaide) to see some of the models to get an idea of layout sizes, and have walked through them before, but you opinion would be appreciated.
Cheers
Stephen

I have a 2017 18.58-2 with extended drawbar (200mm), so I can answer bullet point, 2 & 4.
2: 7.7 meters from front hitch to back bumper. Add another meter for opened expanda on the back.
3: if you are asking about privacy in the toilet, it has a curtain for privacy. And the shower has a neck height solid door with canvas above that.

We dont do smelly number in our toilet (all caravan parks) so if that bothered you, the curtain on a 18.58-2 could be a problem. I think the only Jayco that would have a solid door on the toilet (and thus contain the lingerer) would be the old style Shower/ toilet combination.

Hi Steve
We have had no problems with No2s in the 18.58.2 we use double the amount of recommended chemical ( personal choice ) turn the shower fan on and open the window behind the loo and ALL Good.
I did change the curtain from in front of the loo to across the access this then increases the size of your private bathroom.
we used the van 90% bush camping with just 2 and found the van perfect I turned the bottom bunk into a day lounge and the top bunk into storage.
No plug but see photos on for sale https://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/jayco-18-58-2-ob-2016.12024/

Thanks Falco and Scrounger, will keep this in mind. We are in the process of getting a 18.58.2 with the bunks replaced with bench space and cupbourds. This will be our first toilet/shower combination. Once I get it home we will have a look at the curtain across.
