Hi guys, hoping someone can help. We bought a 2nd hand 16.49.1. We have used the air con before and it has been fine. We tried to use the heating on our last trip but it had a really bad burning smell, so we only used it for about 5 mins. Could this be because it hasn't been used? Or any ideas what it could be?

Thanks,
Tracy

Hi Tracy, I know what you mean, I have had the same before in our 16-49-1. I think it's a build up of dust and should clear after a while, also check and clean filters under the unit as they block up quickly.

Cheers.

It's a element heater and as such will smell if dust or residue gets on it. No big deal it burns off.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the advice. Didn't know where the filters were. They appear okay but will open and give a better look later. Ran the heating today whilst at home ( felt safer) and all was good no residual burning smell! Thanks

Hi Tracy, if you look under the head unit (where the air comes out) there are 2 plastic grids that come off and the filter material is under them, just give them a brush off and replace.

Cheers.

I guess filter check, could be dust and dirt. Maybe it would be worth having it serviced just incase its a bigger issue. I wouldnt like the thought of a fire.
