in non electrical terms the capacitor gives your ac unit the grunt to start the compressor, if you are getting nothing, something is interrupting the power supply , the first check ,is it plugged in and turned on ? simple things first. best of luck , i am sure the electrical brains will soon follow with technical advice

Correct @poor but proud . If the capacitor has failed, then the compressor motor will be trying to start without the "kick" from stored charge in capacitor. A slight hum may be heard as compressor tries to start. This will continue until the thermal cutout attached to motor says motor coils are too hot and cuts power to compressor. Power stays off until coils cool down enough, then motor tries to start again. This will continue indefinitely until insulation on motor coils break down completely and motor burns out - no more humming!! Thermal cutout can fail too! Sometimes fuses will blow and save the day if you are lucky. A few other simple things to check before you call in the fridge mechanic will be suggested by others on this forum I am sure. Good luck

If no power to the unit, no lights nothing then could just be the ceramic fuse they have in the unit. Have to take the internal cover off, then an internal panel and then inside there will be a tiny little ceramic fuse. Friends unit died (not power to the unit) when were were in Richmond so was damn hot. Turned out to be the tiny ceramic fuse which of course no one had. Changed when back home and all good. Hope that's all it is.

Make sure you are not plugged into the main and everything is turned off

Take the filters off which should show you 6 Hex screws to remove the internal grey main panel.
There should be a small red wire harness clip you will need to detach.
Then there will be a black plastic box which is held in by two screws.
Take out the screws and then slide the black box out.
You then have to remove the 3 torx screws holding that together, undo those screws which opens up the housing.
Inside you'll find the control board with an obvious ceramic looking fuse which by the way is tiny as.

The brain bank when you need it. Good info

Here is a picture of the main PCB showing the main fuse at the bottom under the transformer:
