Hi,
Looking around at the moment for an 18.57-9 (OB optional) for sale. We are currently in Darwin and looking to do a trip next year down the east coast then across to Perth.
Does not appear to be a huge turnover of these vans.

Any help would be much appreciated...

Regards

Steve and Elisha.

Welcome Steve & Elisha. Once you've got an 18 you'll want to hang on to it. They're worth hunting for though. Maybe put some feelers out with a few Jayco dealers in Northern Australia (or even further south). Sometimes there are trade ins or vans placed on consignment. Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome. We have been looking around for a couple of months now and have contacted the local Jayco dealer.
Also what is the lead time on delivery of a new van if we decide to take that option.

Hi Steve & Elisha, welcome guys, good luck with finding your van. The wait is normally about 12 weeks for a new one, any on trading post or caravansales.com?

Cheers.

No 18's (and very few Expandas) at Prestige in Geelong (Vic) when I visited today. Are you after pop-top or full height van? According to rep only two full height Expandas on the 2013 board including a 20' with only a front fold out bed and (3?) bunks and separate shower and toilet in rear.

Hi Xpandafan, we are looking at the full size van, correct me if I am wrong but I think the full size vans have a little more storage room which with a few kids becomes a premium. Hopefully something comes up over the next few months.

We haven't filled all our storage space in ours yet and love having a wardrobe and the drawers under it. Plan to use outside camp cupboard (from Flamingo days) over Summer (6 weeks at seaside) for extra towels, shoes, beach toys etc.) As you can see from pics, we like to have everything inside packed away and be as clutter free as possible. Different rules for kids/grandkids. Like the extra head room before the overhead cupboards. Bench space is smaller than Flamingo but you quickly get used to that.

G'day James. Start looking around now...there's not a lot of 18's around.
At the risk of getting bored senseless, have a browse thru my feed to see what we got and what we've done with it.
"Expandafan's 18.57-7...the learning curve"
A pre-loved 18.57 should have teething issues sorted. There are a few simple mods you can do yourself, and a few that don't cost arm and leg...LED lighting throughout, underslung axles for example, if you don't get an OB model.
I'm sure other 18 owners will be happy to help you.
Couldn't manage now without HWS, En-Suite, double wardrobe and drawers, bigger fridge, A/C when on mains power, solar panels and dual batteries. Love the bench heights and clearance inside the full size van.

We are also on the hunt for a 2011 or 2012 18.57-9 (OB Optional). While we won't be heading off until Apr 2014, we would like to secure one before the end of 2013 to give us a chance to do a few test runs!!:)

Bushman has found a few nice vans there, MattandJanelle. The first pre-loved one with pretty much all options still looks good value though nearly $50k and should have any new van niggles well sorted. Winter time is probably a good time to buy. if your budget allows it, consider making an cash offer a couple of thousand lower than asking price and negotiate from there. Sellers usually have plans for the cash, be it new van, car or house. Happy hunting.
