Hi all, new member and love all the info on this forum.
I've just ordered a new 17.56-1 ob and am a little worried about the weight as we will tow it with a 2014 vx Prado. The extras we have ordered are as follows,
Extended draw bar
Extra solar panel
Extra water tank
Extra gas bottle
Hot water
External shower
Picnic table
Upgraded stereo
Bed converter
Ceiling air conditioning

Does anybody have a rough idea what weight this will come in at?
Can compliance plate be changed if needed?

I ordered after the show and they tell me I will have it late April/early May.
To late now but what would be a good price for this?

Thanks in advance

i would say you get close.. They can cut down your 400kg load if you talk to them before its registered it seems.
Ring your dealer and say it needs to be under 2500 or you cannot do it.. the -1 hopefully be ok :)
Someone here will have one so might be able to help

Hi DAB and welcome to the forum......

We have a 2014 17.56.2OB with the following and might give you an idea:
Standard Drawbar
One solar panel
Two water tanks
Two x 9kg gas bottles
Hot water
Internal shower/toilet combo
Ceiling aircon
Winegard aerial

Weights are:
Tare 1958
GTM 2285
AGM 2433
Empty Ball Weight 148
Max Ball Weight 196
The above weights make it OK for our 2004 Prado BUT........... Our van was built on a 2013 chassis and does not have the Jtech independent coil coil suspension which apparently adds approximately 250+ kgs to the overall weight.

As @davemc said If you get in early you might be able to get them to ensure the plate states <2500kgs but it does mean carrying less necessities like beer etc :D

Has been done though!

We have a 2014 Expanda 17-56-1 OB and when we received it in Novemeber the plate came in at a total of 2506kg. We had specified that it was to only total 2500kg so they changed it for us.
We ordered the extras you have listed but not the bed converter for the dining area. We changed our table all together.
We tow with a 2012 GXL Prado Diesel.

I just recently got a 17.56.1 and had them change the plate to suit my vehicle. The only problem with it is I have lost 64kg of weight that I can load into the van, but yes it can be changed to match your towing capacity

Thanks everybody, appreciate your input. Looks like I'll get plate changed if needed but no way am I taking less beer, maybe less water.
Do you think it's realist that van will be delivered late April? Everybody else seems to be saying June.

The dealer will have ordered from a 'slot' in the production so your delivery date - provided that is what they have done - should be close to what they say.
Ask them at the same time (and given the above I recommend you do) you request the ATM is stamped no more than 2500kg.
Cheers.

Hi Dab, Sorry little late and may not help . I have a 17-56-2 OB on Jtec suspension. we have an extended draw bar and had the second dinette removed and replaced by cupboards. Originally it came in with an ATM of 2575. After some negotiation the retailer and Jayco we reweighed the van and they agreed to bring ATM back to 2500. My current loaded weight less water is 2020 with a ball weight of 160 Total 2180Kgs Good luck
