If the fridge is getting the 12 volts while running then that is ok.

Thanks for that Gil,

I would have expected to see well above 12volts & even perhaps low 13's.

I run 5.9mm 2 twin core flex, I use proper wire not SCA 1/2 aluminium 1/2 copper almost wire! At the moment I have not changed any of the wiring on the caravan fridge as yet.

What I have done this time is run the power to the 12 pin plug that supplies the fridge from my 120ah dual battery that is in the tray, I put a relay in that is IGN switched. this battery is charged from a Redarc DC-DC charger.

Hey Big Gee

At 16 amps using 6mm2 cable, this is normal. Bit more info on voltage drop and cable size below...

If you wanted to bring the voltage up, you could either do another run (parallel) with the same cable or replace the cable with a bigger one.

The problem is with electric motors such as the fridge compressor that the lower the voltage, the higher the current draw.

Given the volts/amps you have specified, the fridge is doing what the nameplate says so no real worry.

Enjoy!
