I just picked up a new Jayco today and picked up a 15 amp power lead. Forgot that the male plug to connect to 240 v would also be a 15 amp plug with the larger earth pin, therefore wont fit! On my previous van (bought off my parents 10 yrs ago) it too had a 15 amp plug but the male plug was a 10 amp pin set. ( I think dad changed it himself) What have other people done to deal with this situation which is safe and 'legal' (not interested in grinding pin down!) thanks

The Amphibian is way to go, as CD says. ( Also used it to run the 15amp plasma welder to modify the spare wheel carrier, rather than move the Expanda.) I take it with me as well just in case you need to hook up to a 10amp gpo anywhere.

Thanks for the quick replies! Yeah, I had seen the ampfibian, but wondered if there were any alternatives. As it reduces the 15 down to 10 amp, have you had any cut off issues with the air conditioner running alongside other electrical appliances?

Welcome to the forum.

Just try not to use them all at once...

- Toaster = 5 Amps
- Kettle = 10 Amps
- Microwave = 8 Amps
- Fridge = 0.75 Amps

And yes, go with the Amphibian. It is the only legal way to go...

Cheers.
