OK, the million-dollar question. It looks like I am not going to get to QLD in January but may have access to NSW and VIC. Any suggestions where I might find a site for the first two weeks of January at this late stage?
Now there is an easy challenge for you, isn't it?

I say NSW best bet
SA say if your double vaxed they will let you in.
WA have tanks and machine gun nests on the border I think :)

Hi,
I would be mindful of being out of your State in case they slam the borders shut at short notice even to returning residents.

Also, ensure you can get a full refund if you are not allowed to take up your booking. A voucher can be completely worthless. Either you won't get to use it for exactly when and what you want, the prices will be so high that you will be tossing up whether to be gouged or throw the voucher in the bin, or it will pass its use-by date before you can use it. I have read of some places not allowing the voucher to be sold or transferred to anyone but the original camper.

take care
Mike

I think you will just have to keep up to date on the NSW/VIC Border regs. the official ones not the social media rubbish, read the fine print ..... We have a booking for Canberra, we just keep moving the dates but we are hoping we might manage Xmas but who bluddy well knows............ but Big Mal is locked, loaded and ready to roll, in these times I run by the staged jump method, I will camp by the border, evaluate the turkeys in control then jump the fence if it looks like the odds are in my favour, of course the back plan is for an extended holiday if the morons stuff things up... never be more than a 13hr drive from the border......

Last QLD lock down I jumped into NSW for a month, to get home I just had to do 14 days in the border zone before getting back to Q, it was a rare sight to see a QLD plate in NSW, great uncrowded camp sites and folk just didn't know they could travel, they thought the border was shut tight, it pays to read the actual regs not the newspaper or social media rubbish...........great thing was as I entered the border zone to do my 14 days of fishing along the McIntyre River, Anna opened the gate, as I drove home swarms were heading south and north for a holiday, they missed the boat because they didn't read the rules themselves.....

At present VIC and NSW are locked out of everywhere by road......... look around the Snowy Mountains, in summer they are great, less chance of going red and won't be a crowded.

We are both double vaxed
keeps changing all the time.. Read double vaxed.
This one says double vaxed from low LGA's
Who knows next week..

However, millions of people in Sydney and Melbourne will be locked up for potentially months longer as they still have hundreds of active cases.
Instead, a staged re-opening is planned, starting with fully vaccinated residents from low-risk parts in NSW and Victoria that have few cases.

I will be double vaxed by the November and this is when my fulltime trip starts, but don't need to make NSW till the end of February and I'm starting out in and around the south coast of Vic, last year's (Feb-March this year) NSW trip was off and on for a while but then on just in time to get a house booked, a permit, and test on return however the test was not required on my return, when I left I was planning on taking my time to return up to 1-2 months but only took about 6 weeks and if the border was closed then so be it.

This time it's no hurry or direction after the NSW trip so I'm just happy if I get on the road ;)

Yep @peatop, just have to keep a weather eye on the Covid declarations, I imagine when Vic opens up there will be an exodus of folk to SA and QLD, me if I was in VIC or NSW I think I would have a big trip in mind with an early autumn start to anywhere other then ViC or NSW just in case another winter shambles occurs.

Unfortunately/fortunately I'm stuck in Vic till November anyway but out of lockdown atm as I'm rural, my main thing is fishing (kayak fishing) and from xmas through to March is pelagic season here so I head down to Portland chasing Kings and Tuna and we also have a comp on Aus day weekend although not last year and I doubt this year as well because of covid issues, and then a few of us head to South west rocks NSW for a weeks fishing offshore chasing other species, so once I get there if I get there, it just a matter of which direction to head north or south lol but I'm certainly looking forward to it.
