I can not remember if it has a plate bonded behind internally. However the outer fibreglass panel that is fractured is bonded to the styreen foam then bonded to the interior ply.Not a small job ,however a good fibreglass boat repairer would be able to do it .not a simple job for diy

A long time ago someone showed us their repair .................. I believe they bogged the hole with nails or similar then an alloy plate was glued and screwed over it with the catch screwed to it.... have seen many with an alloy plate behind those catches so not uncommon.

Did our when the screws broke. Just glued an aluminium plate over it and shifted the screws slightly.
