Hello,

My Jayco Starcraft 17.58-3 OB awning started to leak in one small pinhole location.

The location is near where the awningjoins onto the he he caravan roof where th stitching is.

It is just above the be outside picnic table, so I be picnic table fills up with water.

I keep the awning in pretty good condition and when the caravan is not in use, it has a cover over the whole vs .

What are my options for resolving the the issue.

It looks like there must be some sort of adhesive waterproof strip across where the stitch holes are.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you.

Ive smeared clear UV stable silicone along the awning top stitching (and along the front and rear edges) in all my vans. UV stable clear silicone is invisible, seals the stitching and protects stitching from breaking down in sun light, which it will do over time. I read about it many years ago somewhere, sounded logical and its clear so it couldn't hurt. With the first van I only did the top stitching which stayed primo, but the front and rear edge stitching where I hadn't smeared silicone literally disintegrated. It works

Looks ok, I cant recall which one I used but it would have just been one I generally have in the tool box, likely roof and gutter because that my go to type. Any UV resistant silicone will do the job, cheaper the better in my opinion. Just skim a smear along the stitching, you dont need too much

My awning has a couple of holes in it and a dab of roof and gutter, smoothed with a spit finger does the job, wish I had thought about using it on the stitching as some of mine has rottted and I have to sew it back up with some sailmakers twine, beeswax is okay but does need redoing as it melts off, when I stitch it back up it will get a silastic smear for sure.............. thanks Crusty one.

Thanks guys. Will report back on the outcome when completed and it rains next, although expecting good results
